Antonio comes to stay
As it happened I’d asked Antonio Carluccio to stay…
Weekends are so much the continuation of my daily life that it all melds, so much so that sometimes I steal my weekend any day I can!
When there is anything ‘foodie’ on in town I just can’t help tempting good friends who seldom make it to South Australia to have a bit of the Barossa experience which often means sneaking in as little as an evening or when things are more relaxed catching a whole weekend between engagements.
I do love it when I can actually persuade friends to arrange to be here on a Friday night at least so we can wake in the morning and after the first heart starter…..of espressos……or something bubbly we head for the Barossa Markets at Vintners shed at Angaston. I’m more likely to cook a simple meal around the kitchen table at night and have time to just whip people off to the sights people sometimes forget: Our regional gallery with the most beautiful wall of patchwork depicting the sum of the parts of the Valley – something so beautiful I have to share it with as many of my guests as possible. Walking through the Kaiser Stuhl reserve – its peaceful setting so far away from city life.
Then whenever I can I impose on friends whose property is high over the Valley and to see the sun set there with the kangaroos coming in to the water it’s a pretty special place indeed. These are the few quiet times I get at this crazy time of my life.
As it happened I’d asked Antonio Carluccio to stay…
To give you a glimpse of a few days in the last week.
Absolutely not! Our younger daughter Elli’s 30th birthday celebration with a late lunch for 30.
