New from the Kitchen Diary
A zest for orange
The vitality of orange makes it a very important ingredient in my cooking. I use orange juice in my everyday marinades for pheasant and put the rind into game pies. I make pasta with orange rind, as well as salads, cakes and desserts. I add orange rind to the perfect scrambled eggs or when serving kalamata or green olives tossed in extra virgin olive oil.
Orchard House - A Hand Picked Experience
To stay at Orchard House in Winter is to surround yourself with the full beauty of the Barossa seasons. Winter is not only the most cosy time of year to sneak in some downtime in the country; sitting by the fire with a glass in hand, but it is also the time of year when the entire Valley seems to slow down, giving you access to every local drawcard in its most relaxed state. Time seems to be found in Winter, rather than spent. If ever there was a perfect time to spend a weekend in the middle of Maggie’s Barossa orchard, it’s now!
A literal hop, skip and a jump through the pear trees to her famous Farm Shop, the “Orchard House” offers an experience hand picked by Maggie to ensure you’ll feel like a local the moment you walk through the beautiful old farmhouse door. Find out more about the Orchard House here, or visit the Orchard House website.
Creating an appetite for life...
The Maggie Beer Foundation was established in May 2014 with one purpose - to improve the food experience for everyone in aged care. Of course though the purpose seems simple, the implications, the needs, the opportunities, the reasons, the difficulties and the resolve present a rich recipe; and for that we need the help of many committed people who will follow us on the journey...

Cooking with Verjuice Demonstrations
The daily workshop is for individual travellers or small groups as there is limited space in what we fondly call the ‘studio’ where Maggie and Simon filmed the Cook and the Chef - should you want to organise an exclusive demonstration for a group which can be arranged for a fee dependent on timing of the year.
A phone call to the Farmshop on 0885624477 or email; email@example.com to enquire about an individual possibility.
