Maggie Beer - A Barossa Food Tradition (this image is used if you print the page)

Welcome!

There is no mistaking Autumn is here when everything takes on that 'golden syrup' hue.

Autumn is signalled by so many changes, but for me, the one that always serves as the true indicator we have turned the corner into a new season is the light; that golden, flaxen coloured light that hits the hills of the Valley late in the afternoon. Of course, then the next thing that springs to mind is the produce of the new season and what I’ll be cooking with quinces, figs, grapes, mushrooms, duck and pheasant, just to name a few. And it’s the perfect weather for longer, lazier breakfasts with a pot of coffee and lashings of burnt fig jam on wholegrain toast… while I think of what to cook for dinner!

Cheers,

Maggie
